The power of music is awesome. It can melt the hardest of hearts, provide hope for the hurting, and offer praise and adoration. A group of Christians from Central Florida personifies this fact while using it’s brand of Southern Gospel Music in the most effective manner to spread the mighty message of God’s great love.
Hearts of Harmony was formed in 1953, and based in Lincoln County, West Virginia. Dee Cooper’s mother was a member, singing the alto part. Dee’s earliest recollection is being permitted to watch and listen to their weekly practice sessions, held at his parent’s home. (but not make a peep). "Pop" Cantley, lead singer, was a seasoned teacher and taught "shape-notes", perfect pitch, (using a pitch harp) and voice, all during those practices. They did not know then, the impact it had on the boy who could only watch and listen.
The quartet traveled throughout the tri-state region, while hosting a weekly radio broadcast on WKLC, St. Albans, WV. They disbanded in 1958, but not before Dee began to travel and was featured on each concert and radio show. Dee has been given the opportunity to reform a group whose desire is to preserve the great tradition of four-part harmony as the quartets in those earlier days.
Home based in the city known as the "Gateway to the Stars", Titusville is located on the Space Coast of Florida, the entrance to the Kennedy Space Center. The members consist of Dee Cooper, baritone, Ryan Johns, bass and Randy Bailey, lead. Each member claims to be living out a dream because singing Gospel Music has always been their desire and the thing they want to do the most, believing that God will always provide a way to carry out the calling.
